COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout
Update January 2022

Leichhardt General Practice is offering the Vaxzevria (Astra Zeneca) COVID-19 Vaccine for adults as well as the Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 Vaccine for both Adults 12 years + and Children 5-11 years.

At this stage we only have scheduled a very small number of COVID Vaccination Clinics. We have limited staff and vaccine stock to run these clinics. In addition, due to significant difficulty and delays with vaccine deliveries, our clinics may be added or cancelled at very short notice.

We sincerely apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Appointments can be made and consent forms completed on line through our HotDoc booking platform. If there are no appointments available, please also investigate options at vaccine hubs via Service Finder

We do ask that you not attend our vaccine clinic if you or your child is unwell or if you have been exposed to COVID. In this case, please notify us in advance.

The vaccine schedule for children 5-11 years is 2 doses, given 8 weeks apart. This interval can be shortened in special circumstances to a minimum of 3 weeks.Useful information for parents about Children's  5-11 COVID vaccines can be read here .

ATAGI recommends 3rd primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine as a booster dose for all Australians aged 18 years or older, to mitigate against waning immunity to SARS-CoV-2 and emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants.

An mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) is preferred to Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) for this 3rd dose.  AstraZeneca can be used for the 3rd dose for individuals who have received AstraZeneca for their first 2 doses if there are no contraindications or precautions for use, or if a significant adverse reaction has occurred after a previous mRNA vaccine dose which contraindicates further doses of mRNA vaccine (e.g., anaphylaxis, myocarditis).

The recommended interval for the 3rd dose is 4 months after the 2nd dose of vaccine. (A minimum interval of 4 weeks may be considered in exceptional circumstances). Patients who have had a second dose more than 6 months ago should receive a 3rd dose whenever feasible.
