Fees

Please note that telehealth and phone consultations are the same fees as face-to-face consultations.

In order to obtain a Medicare rebate for long phone consultations, you need to be registered with our practice through My Medicare .  

LGP is a private billing practice. Bulk billing is not routine, and will be at the discretion of your medical provider. Saturday appointments will be charged at the full adult fee for all patients. 

Out-of-pocket costs will vary if you are having a procedure (e.g. minor surgery, iron infusion). If you require details of costs, please enquire with the practice. 

​Scripts and referrals can be requested online. The charge for these is $25 (plus a transaction fee). 

A credit card surcharge of 1% and a debit card surcharge of 0.5% will be applied to EFTPOS transactions.

A note on Workcover and CTP: for new claims from March 2023 onwards, consultations will need to be paid for on the day. Reimbursement will be through your insurer. 

Failure to attend appointments or cancellation within 2 hours of an appointment will incur a $50 cancellation fee.

A note on our fees

Due to the stagnation of Medicare rebates, the practice is no longer able to routinely bulk bill our patients. We are continuing to bulk bill aged and disability pensioners. However, as of July 1, 2022, other concession card holders will be charged a private fee.

Today's Medicare rebates do not cover the full cost of providing you with safe and high quality medical care. This is because the rate at which successive governments have indexed Medicare Schedule fees has been substantially lower than increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and average weekly earnings.

LGP seeks patients' understanding as it would not be possible for the practice to meet the running costs and provide the best service for our patients without making amendments to Leichhardt General Practice's fees and billing policy. Fees charged covers all operating expenses such as wages, medical equipment, utilities, computers, rent and insurance.

Children under 16 years of age are charged a reduced fee.

On Saturdays, there is no reduced fees or bulk billing. All patients are charged the full fee on Saturdays.

Special fees may be offered to disadvantaged patients. Please advise your doctor if you are suffering any financial hardship. Our doctors are sensitive to such situations and are willing to assist where possible.

Accounts need to be settled on the day of your appointment. We are connected to HIC Online which means that we can lodge a claim to Medicare for you at time of payment. You can then elect to have your rebate sent as a cheque or transferred into your bank account. We offer EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard.
